Becoming an RN is on the minds of a lot of folks right now. When watching the news or reading the paper it is fairly common to hear about the nursing shortage and that nursing make good money. So you may be wonder how you go about entering the field of medicine as an RN, right? There are various way and which one would be better for you will depend on your current situation and your career goals.

First of all if you never went to college or completed a degree there are a few different option you may have available. Your long term and short term career goals may have an impact on how quick you can complete your education to become an RN. If you would like to become a registered nurse as quick as possible and have no plans or interests in ever working in a management position, then an associates degree from a community college or university may be all you need to complete. If you decide to go this route and then someday do change your mind you could always return to school to complete an rn to bsn degree at some point in your career.

Another option is if you current hold a bachelor’s degree in another field and wish to become an RN. There are programs out there from some universities that may allow you to complete a program on a fast track type of program. Due to the nursing shortage many people who wish to change careers are searching for different options of entering the healthcare field and this is one of them.

Whatever option you choose one type of program you may wish to consider is an accelerated nursing program available from some universities. These may or may not be applicable to you and your current situation. The easiest way to find out is to contact some schools to learn more about their program.
